Electrolux Thailand is once again looking for Thailand’s best young designers as it launches its 2012 Design Lab competition with the theme of “Design Experience”. The Electrolux Design Lab is a global annual design competition which is now in its 10th year. Students and recent graduates of industrial design are invited to compete for a six-month paid internship with Electrolux in Sweden, and a cash prize of around 200,000 bt (5,000 EURO). Thai designers have reached the finals of the competition in 2006, 2007 and 2009.
Entrants are required to submit ideas that develop the sensory experience of home appliances. They will be selected based on adherence to the brief and the aesthetic and conceptual qualities of the contribution. Additionally, their works have to base on intuitive design, innovation and consumer insight.
In recognition of the 10th anniversary of the competition, Electrolux Design Manager Mr Adam Szczepanowski (centre) travelled to Thailand recently to open the world of design experience to Thai students at S31 Hotel. He was joined at the workshop by Electrolux Thailand General Manager, Khun Sutti Manokitjarunman (2nd from the right), and Khun Tarini Pimolsri (2nd from the left), Brand & Marketing Communication Manager. Also attending the workshop were judges from the national jury in Thailand, Khun Sakkachat Sivabovorn (far right), Advisor, Industrial Design Network Co.,Ltd. and M.L. Kathathong Thongyai (far left), Director of Product Value Promotion, Department of Export Promotion, Ministry of Commerce.
