The word SURFACE is generally used to describe the outer plane of something, objects or spaces. We are familiar with this particular word and the idea around it, being physically external, or on the other hand its resulting image, describing the characteristics or position through sight or direct touch.
The word #SURFACE appearing in this exhibition, is an attempt to present the idea beyond the physical body of the mentioned "Surface" to the subject of it's skin and senses in terms of "notion and tool" which can be developed into a working process. This can lead to logic, principle, or method that could again guide each creator to their goals.
#SURFACE exhibition presents the work of 8 artists and designers who create works under different conditions, age, background, gender, working status or issues in which each person is interested. Each of the works in this exhibition is considered an exploration through various terms of surfaces. Some works focus on certain processes that investigate and refine themselves through its surfaces or physical body. Some of the work are a complex surface area of metaphorical thinking. Some group of works immerse us in the process which makes it more meaningful than the result or appearance that it is referencing. Some works can be seen as a conceptual principle that can be used as a plan for creating other prototypes. All the works in this exhibition come in different forms and mediums / materials, such as drawings on paper, installation, objects, printing, mixed media and animation.
