Bangkok--Sep 10--Microsoft (Thailand) Microsoft corporation has appointed Mr.Peerapong Oeusoonthornwattana as managing director of Microsoft(Thailand) Ltd., effective September 15, 1997. He will be responsible for developing the company's marketing strategies in Thailand and also promoting Microsoft's campaign against software piracy. Microsoft's director for Southeast Asia, Mr.Blas Garcia Moros said: "I am pleased to announce that we have appointed Mr.Peerapong as Managing Director of Microsoft Thailand commencing September 15, 1997. With his reputation and experience in the IT industry, I am sure Mr.Peerapong will be an asset to our company and its operations in Thailand. "I would also like to thank Mr.Yudhana Aimthikul, our CRCU Sales Manager in Thailand, for assuming the responsibility as the acting Managing Director for the past few months." added Mr.Moros. Mr.Peerapong said he welcomed the challenge of leading Microsoft Thailand into the new century. "I believe that in split of the economic problems facing this country there are tremendous opportunities to develop powerful partnerships with our clients to equip them for future expansion and profitability." Mr.Peerapong, the former managing director of Compaq Computer (Thailand) Ltd., graduated from Western Michigan University with a Master Degree in Computer Science. He has a total of 17 years' experience in the IT industry. Prior to working with Compaq, he was the Sales Unit Manage & Country Consulting Manager at Digital Equipment (Thailand) Ltd. (DEC). He was part of the pioneering team and assisted in the set-up of DEC (Thailand). Since 1988 he has been awarded the DEC Circle of Excellence Award three times and also received the DEC 100 Award. Prior to joining Digital, Mr.Peerapong was the Sales Marketing Manager of Krianpat Company Ltd. and Computer Management Ltd.
