BMW Group Thailand to show the 1st New BMW 7 Series CKD at Thailand International Motor Expo

Bangkok--Nov 28--124 Communications BMW Group Thailand announced today that the company will launch the CKD version of New 7 Series, built in BMW Manufacturing Thailand in Thailand International Motor Expo. The CKD version of the 735Li is priced at 8.1 million Baht. BMW Group Thailand will start delivering the first cars to customers from the end of January. This is in accordance with the strategy and the operational schedule which was announced in July this year. The first unit of the New 7 Series CKD built in BMW Group's Rayong plant will be unveiled in the press day of the fair. This car, with the chassis number 'DE47013', is the first New 7 Series ever built outside Germany. BMW ManufacturingThailand, in Rayong province, is the second plant in BMW Group's production network next to the plant Dingolfing, Bavaria, which builds the new flagship model, the New 7 Series. Dr. Frank Roesler, President of BMW Group Thailand and BMW Manufacturing, Rayong, stated: "The production of the 735Li in Thailand represents the vote of confidence from the BMW Group, because the production of the New 7 Series car involved a lot of high-technology, advanced electronical devices. To build such a high-technology luxury car requires well trained technicians and engineers in all level. Our people in the plant Rayong managed that well. "We are proud our people who build the CKD version of this new BMW flagship model." Dr. Roesler commented further: "With the launch of CKD version of the 735Li, the top luxury sedan at a competitive price, BMW Group Thailand will experience the same success of the New 7 Series like other parts of the world. Good examples of our success are the U.S. and the U.K. markets. The U.S., with 18,348 units delivered to customers from January to October 2002, the New 7 Series has become the best selling car in the top luxury segment. Elsewhere in the world, the New 7 Series has already become a success story." At the initial stage, the production of the new 735Li will only be for the domestic Thai market. The export of the car from Rayong plant to ASEAN countries will start in the 3rd quarter next year with Indonesia as announced.
