Central Food Retail Co Ltd., the company that manages TOPS Supermarket, marketplace, and City market by TOPS, announced today that they will host the “Taste of the States” fair as a celebration of American Independence Day. Mr. Nick Reitmeier, the Vice President International Food & Wine, said during the opening ceremony of “Tastes of the States 2005” Fair at marketplace by TOPS, Chidlom Branch, “marketplace’s ultimate goal is to provide consumers with the widest possible variety of quality products. During the past several years, we have found that consumers have very different demands, and that they are looking for more imported products, especially from the United States. This can be seen in our previous successes from all the Taste of the States fairs held in recent years.”
“This year we decided to jazz up the fair with emphasis on food from the States, under the concept of “Fashion Food City”, which allows consumers to taste various kinds of food. In doing so, we offer consumers a range of more than 300 kinds of new products from the United States, including Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, Pop Secret microwave popcorn, Smucker’s Goober jams, as well as imported fresh fruits such as: Nectarines and white cherries, Mr. Reitmeier added.
As for market goals, the Vice President of Imported Products said that the company is expecting a 100% sales increase of imported products from the U.S. compared with last years festival. They are also expected to increase the sale of U.S. imported products with as much as 30% by the end of this year.
“We will continue to search for more products from the U.S. so that we can meet our customers’ needs. Whenever they want to buy imported products from the U.S., marketplace by TOPS should be the first place they think of, and they can be sure of getting exactly what they need and want,” Mr. Reitmeier said.
This year’s “Tastes of the States” Fair, will also include a parade of goods arranged under the gimmick of “Fashion Food City”. Quality food and imported products will be offered for tasting and Special Hot Dogs will be sold for the benefit of UNICEF Thailand to help less-privileged Thai children. The “Tastes of the States 2005” will be held during 29 June and 26 July at all branches of marketplace by TOPS.
“The company has continuously supported UNICEF, because besides our determination to offer the best quality products to consumers, we are also committed to be giving back to the society,” Mr. Reitmeier added.
