Privy Councillor M.L. Usni Pramoj and The Conrad Bangkok in association with the Royal Over-Seas League and supporters namely Siam Music Yamaha Co.,Ltd. and The Post Publishing Pcl., announced the launch of The Conrad Young Musician of Thailand Competition 2010 to compete for The Royal Trophy given by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The competition recognizes young performers of classical music who demonstrate an exceptionally high level of talent. The competition aims to promote young musical talent in Western Classical Music in five categories: Piano instruments String instruments Woodwind instruments Brass instruments Percussion instruments Along with M.L.Usni Pramoj, the Honorary Advisor, the Head Judge is Mr. Chris Craker, Former General Manager and Senior Vice President of Sony BMG Masterworks International, and the others judges will be announced over the competition. Interested persons must have the following qualifications: Between 14 - 20 years of age as at 3rd April 2010. Thai citizens and other persons who have been resident in Thailand for a period of not less than one year. All candidates must have their applications endorsed by their university, school or musical academy. Contestants must register their intent to enter the competition by completing and submitting an Entry Form (download from www.roslthailand.com) along with musical CD or DVD, a recording of two pieces of Western Classical music, one fast and one slow (maximum length of 10 minutes in total) by 29th January 2010 the latest and post to: Royal Over-Seas League The Conrad Young Musician of Thailand Competition 2009 34th Floor, Abdulrahim Place Rama IV Road, Bangkok 10500 Enclose with the CD or DVD, a completed Entry Form A panel of Thai and International adjudicators will select a maximum of 30 candidates to go forward to the second round of the competition known as Evaluation Days. Evaluation Days will be on Saturday 6th March 2010 where the selected competitors will be invited to The Conrad Bangkok to play their pieces in front of a similar panel of adjudicators. The Final takes place in the Ballroom of The Conrad Bangkok on Saturday 3rd April 2010 in the presence of 350 specially invited VIP guests and Ambassadors. The award ceremony will take place the same evening. The overall winner will receive the following prizes: The Royal Trophy given by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej Baht 100,000 cash prize Trip and Accommodation Package to London for 2 persons and to perform in concert at The Royal Over-Seas League’s Hall.
