The Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) led a delegation of community leaders from the Khlong Toei area on a study visit to the Bhumibhubejhr Herbal and Traditional Health Wisdom Learning Center in Prachinburi Province. The visit was part of the project "Community Capacity Development through Learning from Local Enterprises," aimed at equipping community leaders with the knowledge, skills, and inspiration to develop value-added products and services derived from local resources and traditional wisdom in a sustainable way.
The morning session featured a special lecture on "The Potential of Thai Herbs in Community Product Development" delivered by Ms. Benjawan Maiman, Applied Thai Traditional Medical Doctor. She provided insights on selecting native herbs for processing into health, beauty, and household products, while also offering guidance on product design tailored to target markets. The session was well-received, with participants expressing confidence in applying the knowledge to both improve healthcare and generate income within their communities.
In the afternoon, participants engaged in a hands-on workshop on "Making Herbal Inhalers and Balms," led by Applied Thai Traditional Medical Doctor. Ms. Prangthip Tianthong and Ms.Phichnapa Intang. The interactive session fostered high levels of participation and enthusiasm, with attendees affirming its practical value and potential as a basis for supplementary income or community-based businesses.
This initiative reflects PAT's commitment to strengthening the capabilities of community leaders in the vicinity of its port operations, fostering knowledge exchange that is both applicable and impactful. It also supports a holistic approach to community development, integrating health, natural living, and Thai traditional wisdom into a sustainable economic model.
