UOB Thailand Heartbeat Run raises record THB5.3 million to boost digital learning for Thai students in remote areas

The funds will provide 10 UOB My Digital Space (MDS) classrooms to 5,700 students in remote communities from Kanchanaburi, Surat Thani, Khon Kaen, Chonburi, Phayao, Lampang, Sing Buri, Udon Thani, Krabi, and Suphan Buri. Many of these schools face limited access to digital equipment, making the new digital classrooms a lifeline for students learning mathematics, science, English and financial skills.

Since UOB Thailand launched the UOB MDS programme in partnership with the Thailand Collaboration for Education (TCFE) in 2022, the UOB Heartbeat Run has raised THB 17 million - empowering teachers to confidently integrate technology into their classrooms, and to give students their first meaningful experience with modern digital learning tools.

Mr Richard Maloney, President and CEO of UOB Thailand, said, "The milestone reflects a shared commitment to giving children a fair chance. Behind every baht raised are people who believe in opening doors for the next generation. This year's support will help students gain skills that can shape their future. We are grateful to everyone who ran, donated and helped make this possible."

Ms Kanokwan Chowsri, Director of Thailand Collaboration for Education, Yuvabadhana Foundation said the impact is felt directly in the classrooms. "Many students in remote areas rarely get access to digital learning. These classrooms allow them to explore, practise and gain skills that will stay with them for a long time even after they leave school. This partnership shows what can be achieved when we work together."

The UOB Heartbeat Run is an annual flagship volunteering and fundraising programme held globally across the region. Every year, employees, partners and customers rally together for this flagship event, through volunteering, fundraising and participating in the physical run and walk. This year's event was held in conjunction with UOB Group's 90th anniversary, reinforcing the Bank's long-standing commitment to uplifting our communities.
