Mr. Pattana Promphat, Minister of Public Health presided as a witness at the ceremony announcing the collaboration between the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Food Science and Technology Association of Thailand (FoSTAT). The partnership aims to enhance food and nutrition literacy among Thai youth through the "Smart Kids with Good Health" initiative. With a focus on promoting Oryornoi schools, the initiative seeks to equip young people with the ability to make smart, informed choices, eat well, and maintain good health, laying a strong foundation for healthy self-care from school age and a sustainable quality of life in the future.
Mr. Pattana Promphat, Minister of Public Health, stated that "The Ministry of Public Health is advancing the policy of 'Health Literacy for Quality Living,' guided by three aspects of health literacy — knowing accurate health information, being aware of one's own health status, and knowing how to address health problems — to help Thai people live healthy and sustainably.
"The announcement of today's collaboration between the FDA and FoSTAT reflects the collective power of multisectoral cooperation in jointly building a society of sustainable wellbeing. The collaboration focuses on enhancing "Life Skills for Wellbeing" among Thai youth by strengthening accurate knowledge of food safety and nutrition, alongside the systematic development of life skills for wellbeing. At the same time, it opens opportunities for youth to apply their knowledge, pass it on to others, and become a key driving force in fostering a society of informed and responsible consumption, with sustainable growth in the long term," Mr. Pattana said.
Ms. Supattra Boonserm, Secretary-General of Food and Drug Administration, added that the FDA places great importance on continuously advancing the Oryornoi school network to enhance health product literacy among Thai youth through integrated collaboration among the public sector, private sector, and academia. For this activity, the collaboration is conducted under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Food Science and Technology Association of Thailand (FoSTAT), with support from Suntory Beverage & Food (Thailand) Co., Ltd. The implementation of the "Smart Kids with Good Health" initiative marks another important step in strengthening Oryornoi activities in schools, driving them toward the development of a new generation of health product communicators.
