IGE is first U.S.-based program to reward international business travelers
Northwest Airlines yesterday (April 21) unveiled its International Gold Elite frequent flier program designed to recognize international business travelers around the world.
Highlights of the new program include round-trip First Class international upgrades and complimentary airport lounge privileges.
International Gold Elite members will receive two, one-way international upgrade certificates after every second First or World Business Class trip. These will allow members to upgrade to First class with the purchase of a World Business Class ticket.
Member also will receive free access to all Northwest World Clubs and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines RoyalWing and business class lounges worldwide. In addition, IGE members can receive guaranteed confirmed reservations, at least 48 hours before departure, on any sold-out Northwest-operated flight with the purchase of either a full coach or World Business Class fare.
Eligibility for IGE is determined by the number of international trips flown in either First or World Business Class on any Northwest, KLM or Northwest-designated partner flight when traveling on a Northwest revenue ticket.
Members of International Gold Elite will receive all of the benefits of Northwest's WorldPerks Gold program as well as other international benefits.
"Our most preferred customers have told us what changes they would like to see in our elite-level program," said Rick Dow, vice president-marketing programs and worldwide advertising. "These new benefits reflect the feedback of our best customers"
