TOKYO: Toshiba Corporation, Takara Co. Ltd. And Dai Nippon Printing Co. Ltd. today announced the establishment of Toshiba TD Education Co., Ltd., "a joint venture company dedicated to the development and promotion of an innovative education platform supporting educational programs for all age groups and in many and varied subjects". The platform, EX-Pad, is an interactive learning experience involving sight, sound and movement and will be in operation by the end of February, 2002.

WIRELESS BANKING...

HONG KONG: iMerchants Ltd, and Diversinet Corp. today announced the launch of a wireless banking solution for personal digital assistants (PDAs), using Diversinet's security technology. The technology will enable wireless financial transactions to be conducted securely using Hongkong Post's Mobile e-Cert system, a press statement said.

HONG KONG: I.T. solutions provider PacificNet.com, Inc. today announced it had "closed a $520,000 private placement with an individual accredited investor for the issuance of 1,625,000 shares of restricted common stock at a price of $.32 per share". The Company also announced that Mr. Victor Tong, the brother of Mr. Tony Tong, had joined the Company's Board of Directors.

SAN JOSE: BAM! Entertainment today announced a multi-product licensing and publishing partnership deal with animation company, Aardman, to produce a range of video games. "We strongly believe that Aardman's intimate knowledge of its characters and its superior storytelling skills, combined with our proven development and marketing expertise, will result in a range of excellent video games," said Anthony Williams, Vice Chairman at BAM! Entertainment.

ACCOUNTING DEAL...

SAN DIEGO: Vsource, Inc. has been appointed Haworth Inc's general accounting and claims processing service provider in the Asia-Pacific. Vsource will "provide general accounting, claims processing and expense reimbursement services to support Haworth's Asia-Pacific operations", and is a Web-based solution, a media release said.

RESEARCH COLLABORATION...

MUNICH: Biopharmaceutical company Morphochem AG will enter a research collaboration with Aventis Pharma to ultimately develop novel drugs for treating a range of bacterial infections, it was announced today. John Hodgson, Aventis' head of Anti-infectives, said, "The Aventis -- Morphochem collaboration addresses the most urgent requirement in our industry, namely the need to generate clinical (drug) candidates faster and more efficiently."

PEPSICO SHIPMENTS...

PURCHASE: PepsiCo said today it has resumed product shipments to Kmart outlets after Kmart's filing earlier this week for reorganization under U.S. bankruptcy law. PepsiCo said it "expects there will be no material impact on its earnings as a result" of this decision.

COMPANY REORGANISATION...

HOUSTON: BMC Software, Inc. today announced the reorganisation of its Research and Development units, which "will enable the Company to maximize opportunities for growth and enhance relationships with customers". Bob Beauchamp, president and CEO, BMC Software said,"This reorganization is an important step in our strategy of simplifying the company and focusing on our core businesses while simultaneously building new franchises."

INTERNET PARTNERSHIP...

SINGAPORE: Merck Singapore has teamed up with e-solutions provider INTIQUA International to strengthen its web presence, the company announced today. Plans are to "extend the company's prominent offline brand to the Internet" and to provide an interactive content management solution to strengthen its position in the pharmaceutical, specialty chemical, and laboratory products industry.

FINANCIAL RESULTS...

HAMILTON: Asia Global Crossing Ltd. will announce its fourth quarter 2001 earnings on Tuesday, February 19, 2002 after the market close. Live audio streaming of the results will be available at http://www.asiaglobalcrossing.com on the Asia Global Crossing website, the company said.

BROOMFIELD: McDATA Corporation today reported record revenue results of $93.5 million for its fourth quarter ending December 31, 2001, "a 19 percent year-over-year increase". Jack McDonnell, chairman and chief executive officer of McDATA, said, " "In 2001, McDATA strengthened its position as the high-end storage networking market leader ... gained market share ... (and) reinforced its commitment to open fabric management through its acquisition of SANavigator..."

HOUSTON: BMC Software, Inc. today released its financial results for the third quarter of fiscal 2002, ended December 31, 2001, reporting "positive operating income and cash flow". The company's net earnings were $19.9 million, with diluted earnings per share at $.08, "which is within the estimated range provided earlier this month", the company said.
