VERITAS Software Corporation (Nasdaq: VRTS) today announced it plans to deliver integrated and tested storage solutions on IBM’s eServer xSeries Linux platform. VERITAS Software’s market-leading storage virtualization, data protection and high availability software are now certified by IBM to run on IBM’s eServer xSeries platform. Enterprise-class storage software solutions are available on the IBM xSeries platform including VERITAS Cluster Server?, VERITAS Foundation Suite? and VERITAS NetBackup?. This solution runs on Red Hat Linux Advanced Server, which has been specifically designed for IT solutions that require the highest levels of application availability and performance. Today’s announcement builds on a series of recent VERITAS Software initiatives with IBM, including VERITAS Software’s full support of the IBM AIX 5L operating system (see separate announcement, dated April 29, 2002), the joint testing of interoperable data protection solutions, and the support of VERITAS Software products by IBM Global Services.
“As more and more enterprise customers move to Linux, the importance of high availability and data management are becoming increasingly important,” said Rich Michos, vice president of Linux Servers at IBM. “IBM’s xSeries servers, combined with solutions from companies like VERITAS Software, help customers improve the performance, reliability and manageability of their systems, while providing superior cost of ownership and availability.”
“Organizations require a storage software and hardware solution that addresses business problems across the entire enterprise,” said Mark Bregman, executive vice president of product operations, VERITAS Software. “Expanding our storage software solutions for the Linux environment arms customers with the flexibility to adapt their platform architecture to dynamic business requirements, while knowing they will benefit from the interoperability, increased efficiency and resiliency of a software-centric architecture.”
