SAP R/3 to Help Ensure Continuity of Critical Business Operations
VERITAS high-availability solutions maintain user access to mission-critical application data
VERITAS Software Corporation (Nasdaq: VRTS) announced its high-availability solutions now fully support the SAP R/3 software solution. VERITAS Software’s high-availability solutions help ensure application uptime for users of SAP solutions that perform critical e-business tasks with the SAP R/3 application, including customer relationship management (CRM), supply-chain management, financials and human resource management activities.
The high-availability solution was jointly tested by VERITAS Software and SAP at BlueStar Solutions, an SAP hosted solutions provider, to simulate a typical failover incidence. During the integration assessment, an enterprise server running SAP R/3 was repeatedly stressed, and VERITAS high availability software enabled the SAP R/3 application to automatically switch over to another server without interruption of the mission-critical business functions. This allowed SAP R/3 to continue its operation for maximum application uptime. After each switchover, a series of functionality tests confirmed that the core SAP components were executing properly.
Companies that depend on continuous operation of their SAP R/3-based environments are already implementing this combined solution from SAP and VERITAS Software. BlueStar Solutions has implemented VERITAS high-availability solutions for SAP R/3 to further ensure the continuous operation of the company’s multi-vendor environment, which consists of 500 UNIX-based and Intel-based servers connected to 110 terabytes of storage.
