The event will be held on November 16, 2005 from 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. on 2nd floor at Bumrungrad International, Sukhumvit 3. Prof. Dr. Yongyudh Ploysongsang, Director of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, and the national leader appointed by GOLD (Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease) for public awareness campaign in Thailand, will be on hand for consultations. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a leading cause of death worldwide and is ranked 5th most common cause of death in Thailand. It is a chronic lung disease characterized by breathlessness, cough, and sputum production. COPD reduces airflow intake into the bronchial tubes and is not fully reversible with bronchodilators. Smoking is the single most common risk factor causing COPD which makes breathing difficult, causes weakness, and severely restricts mobility.
