Regarding this topic, Prof. Surasak Thaneepanichsakul, M.D., obstetrician and Dean of College of Public Health Science, Chulalongkorn University, said, “Because of current false belief, many women are unhappy with their natural breasts and take contraceptive pills to enlarge the size. In fact, the breast engorgement is only the side effect of estrogen hormone, the pills’ component that causes water retention. Therefore, women thought that the pills enlarge their breasts. Meanwhile taking the pills, women will gain weight, with fat accumulating at some parts like hip, and have rounder face. However, after stopping the medication, the effect gradually weakens. This is the reason for young ladies of using the pills’ side effect to make their breasts bigger.”
Prof. Vorapong Poopong, M.D., obstetrician of Chulalongkorn Hospital, talked about other benefits of birth control pills. He revealed, “Currently, the pills are also used for other purposes, such as treating acne and reducing premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). If any women would like to start using the pills, they should always consult with the doctors or pharmacists for their own safety. Do not trust only friends or commercial ads.”
