This tree planting event is a part of their “Green Point” campaign which every 10 points earned from selling products; Hioki will plant one tree in return to the nature. In 2013, Hioki Singapore generated 1,910 points and the company will plant 191 trees this year in Khao Yai National Park. The company and PATT share the same objective towards the environment. Therefore, Hioki cooperates with PATT in this tree planting event as they believe that trees they plant will give their children shelter, oxygen, and greenery.
The company’s general manager from Hioki Singapore, Mr. Kenneth Soh said that “According to “Green Point” campaign, Hioki looked around Southeast Asia and they decided that Khao Yai National Park, Thailand is the place for tree planting after planting 7,493 trees from this campaign.”
He also said that “The company would like to make sure that trees grow so that they can benefit us in the future.”
Eight people from Hioki Singapore, Japan, and Thailand together with 30 students and teachers from Ban Subtai School planted 191 trees with 16 various native species in Subtai, Dong Payayen, Khao Yai National Park.
“PATT Foundation’s objective is to restore and maintain our forest lands in a sustainable way,” said Sudarat Sangkum, project executive. “As of today, PATT has planted almost 900,000 trees; we target to reach 1,000,000 trees within next year to celebrate 10 anniversary of PATT. Today’s tree planting activity from the support of Hioki E.E. Corporation will complement our target achievement.”
“Our initiative in planting trees in association with PATT Foundation is based on the fact that trees absorb carbon dioxide, which is the main cause of global warming. One tree can absorb around 800-1,000 kilograms of carbon during its lifetime.” added Sudarat.
After tree planting, Hioki organized an activity for school children by giving them footballs and snacks.
HIOKI is committed to the effective use of precious resources not only by providing environmentally friendly products, but also by minimizing the use of environmental hazardous substances and assisting in customers' efforts to conserve energy. “Green Point” campaign is a part of Hioki’s philosophy, contribution to society and their responsibility to the environment.
