The event was attended by Mr. Phakapong Thawiphat, Governor of Phuket; Vice Admiral Sittiporn Maskasem, Commander of the Royal Thai Navy, Third Area Command; Mr. Pamukepisitt Achariyachai, Chairman of Kata Group Resorts; Major General Sithiporn Musikasin, the Fourth Army Area Deputy Commander; Rear Admiral Narongdej Spanuchart, Assistant Secretary of Yacht Racing Association of Thailand, Under Royal Patronage; Mr. Kevin Whitcraft, President of the Organizing Committee; Admiral Varong Songcharoen, the Phuket King's Cup Regatta Organizing Committee, high ranking naval officers representing the Royal Thai Navy and dignitaries, hundreds of sailors, VIPs and honored guests.
Mr. Kevin Whitcraft, President of the Phuket King's Cup Regatta Organizing Committee, spoke about the Phuket King's Cup Regatta this year, saying: "There was some very exciting racing this year among the large fleet of keelboats and multihulls and congratulations to the winners in all 11 classes. Congratulations should also go to the race organizers and those who helped in many ways to put together such a successful event.
"One of the most exciting aspects of the Phuket King's Cup has been the large number of junior sailors contesting the International Dingy Classes and congratulations to all the junior sailors who took part. Thailand has some world-class juniors and the King's Cup Regatta is proud to play a role in promoting the sport for the country's youngsters."
The 32nd Phuket King's Cup Royal Awards Ceremony marked the end of a week of spectacular racing involving keelboats, multihulls and dinghies, all competing in the beautiful waters of the Andaman Sea for some of sailing's most prestigious trophies, bestowed by His Majesty the King of Thailand.
