CPL is making bold moves to strengthen its leather tanning business by launching a dedicated marketing team. With the globally recognized "LWG Gold Standard" as its badge of excellence, the company is set to boost partner confidence and drive industry growth. This strategic shift underscores CPL's commitment to innovation, sustainability, and leadership in the leather sector.
Mr. Suwatchai Wongsaroensin, Chairman of CPL Group Public Company Limited (CPL), a leader in the tanning industry in Southeast Asia, revealed that after the tanning industry experienced a slowdown in line with the global economy, there are now signs of recovery driven by increasing orders from customers in the footwear industry, which are showing a growing trend of returning to the use of leather for shoes. Seizing this opportunity, CPL is aggressively expanding its tanning market by launching a sales and marketing team led by Ms. Yvonne Chen, a company director and the Director of Sales and Marketing, who will primarily oversee markets in Europe, the United States, and Vietnam. Mr. Teerawat Wongsaroensin, International Sales Manager, will manage markets in India and Indonesia, while Mr. Chayut Chanchaijirawong, International Sales Manager, will handle markets in China, Vietnam, and Hong Kong.
"We are confident that with the experience of the new generation marketing team joining forces with the existing management, it will revitalize the marketing efforts in CPL's finished leather production and sales business, as well as its tanning business. This is especially significant after all three of CPL's production units—comprising the finished cow leather production unit, the finished pig leather production unit, and the finished decorated cow leather production unit—passed the audit by the Leather Working Group (LWG) from the United Kingdom. The LWG certifies environmental management systems in the leather tanning industry, and all three production units have been awarded the 'Gold Medal' standard certification. This achievement reinforces the company's commitment to conducting its finished leather production and tanning businesses in accordance with international environmental standards, ensuring long-term sustainability and meeting the demands of leading global brands that prioritize environmental standards," said the Chairman of CPL.
Currently, CPL operates three main business segments: 1. Production and Distribution of Finished Leather, accounting for 64% of the company's total revenue. CPL's leather products are categorized into top-grain and split leather. 2. Contract Tanning Services, contributing 2% of total revenue, which includes tanning cow and pig leather. 3.Production and Distribution of Safety Shoes and Equipment, making up 34% of total revenue.
CPL stands as one of the largest producers of finished cow leather in Southeast Asia. Its products are trusted by world-leading brands such as Adidas, Timberland, Puma, and others, who use CPL's leather as a primary raw material for manufacturing sports and casual shoes. Key export markets include China, Vietnam, Indonesia, and India, as well as other countries serving as production hubs for premium footwear brands.
