Bangkok Bank Executive Vice President Suyanee Puripanyawanich said that as a "leading regional bank," Bangkok Bank remains committed to continuously developing its services and digital platforms to meet customers' financial lifestyle needs. Recently, the Bank has launched Cross-Border QR Payment services for inbound Chinese tourists in Thailand. By simply using Chinese applications—UnionPay, Weixin Pay, or Alipay—travelers can scan PromptPay QR codes to pay for goods and services at over 1.9 million stores nationwide, starting from October 30, 2025. "Thailand remains one of the top five travel destinations most favored by Chinese visitors, both for tourism and business. This year, the Tourism Authority of Thailand expects 6.7 million Chinese tourists to visit the country—ranking first among all international arrivals—with average spending per trip exceeding 50,000 baht. Introducing Cross-Border QR Payment services not only caters to Chinese travelers accustomed to a cashless society but also enhances their overall travel and business experience with greater convenience. Moreover, it helps Thai merchants gain better access to Chinese customers," said Ms. Suyaanee.

Merchants accepting Bangkok Bank's PromptPay QR code can automatically support payments for goods and services via Chinese applications—UnionPay, Weixin Pay, and Alipay—starting October 30, 2025. In addition, cross-border QR code payments are also supported from Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Lao PDR, Hong Kong, Cambodia, and South Korea (via the Paybooc app).

Bangkok Bank now offers Cross-Border QR Payment services for both inbound and outbound transactions through partnerships with nine countries: Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Lao PDR, Hong Kong, Cambodia, South Korea (Cambodia and South Korea support inbound payments only), and most recently, China. The service covers both Chinese tourists visiting Thailand and Thai customers traveling to China, enabling easy, cashless payments with high security standards—seamlessly through their local banking apps or Bangkok Bank Mobile Banking across all spending activities.
