TAT TO HOST PATA BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING IN BANGKOK

Bangkok--Oct 18--TAT ABOUT 100 senior executives from throughout the Asia-Pacific will be in Bangkok between 20-22 October for the Board of Directors Meeting of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA). Hosted by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in collaboration with PATA and PATA Thailand Chapter, the board meeting will be attended by chairpersons, managing directors and senior vice presidents of national tourism organisations, airlines, hotels, tour companies, researchers and consultants in the Asia Pacific. In addition to the Board Meeting, various committee and industry meetings will also convene alongside to discuss specific industry subjects like sustainable tourism, marketing, research and human resources development. On 20 October, TAT Governor Pradech Phayakvichien who is also a member of the PATA Board will host a welcome reception and dinner for the directors at the Le Royal Meridien President Hotel. Commented TAT Governor, “It is always good to have such a high level group of people here because it gives them a chance to get an update of the many new developments in Bangkok, Thailand and the entire Greater Mekong Sub-region.” “These are all very senior business-people and we will be taking every advantage of their presence here to ensure that they get a better understanding of the many future opportunities they will have to expand their relations and contacts with Thailand and the GMS countries.” Mr. Pradech added, “I am sure many of those who have not come to Bangkok in the last year or so will also enjoy taking a ride on our Skytrain and seeing how easy it is to get around Bangkok now.” The PATA board will also be hosted to a gala dinner on 21 October at the Rose Garden Country Resort in Nakhon Pathom province, presided over by Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office and TAT Chairman H.E. Mr. Adisai Bodharamik. Thailand has been a PATA member since 1959. The association, whose head office moved from San Francisco to Bangkok in 1998, has more than 2,200 members in 38 countries world-wide. End. -AN-
