Purchase, N.Y. July 15, 2002 -- MasterCard International announced today that Diners Club International cardholders will now have access to cash at more than 780,000 ATM locations in more than 100 countries through its Cirrus?ATM Network.
Beginning in late August, most Diners Club? cardholders with ATM personal identification numbers (PINS) will be able to get cash with their Diners Club cards at ATMs in the global Cirrus ATM Network, which is among the largest in the world.
This global agreement will increase the number of ATM's that Diners Club cardholders can access around the world. Importantly, it will make it much easier for Diners Club cardholders to locate an ATM that accepts their card. All they need to do is look for the Cirrus logo.
"We are pleased to be working with Diners Club to provide their cardholders with the convenience and security of 24-hour cash access throughout the world on our Cirrus ATM Network," said Ann Camarillo, chief debit officer, MasterCard's Global Development Group. "In a world where payment card issuers are continuously challenged to provide a better service to customers, Cirrus offers an easy way to increase revenue while enhancing cardholder satisfaction."
Diners Club cardholders around the world will soon be receiving announcements about this expanded cash access through statements, newsletters and a global advertising campaign that includes in-flight magazines and airport signs in key international markets. New cards will start to carry the Cirrus logo on the back as the program rolls out.
"Access to the Cirrus ATM network represents a very powerful benefit for both our individual and corporate cardholders.
We look forward to a long a successful relationship with our new partner," said Peter Rogers, president of Diners Club International.
Historically, Cirrus has delivered the highest quality of service to members with a transaction completion rate of 99 percent.
Cardholders enjoy peace of mind when traveling because they need not carry large amounts of cash, and they receive favorable exchange rates for cash withdrawals made in other countries.
