Bangkok--Jul 7--PG International/PG Music Books
On behalf of the BANGKOK OPERA FOUNDATION, we are pleased to make the
following announcement.
TUESDAY JULY 22, 2003 at 8 pm at the GOETHE INSTITUT
presented by the BANGKOK OPERA FOUNDATION with the generous assistance of The Goethe Institut, the British Council, Peterson Piano Gallery, and The Violin Shop
Leo Phillips is an astounding violinist who, as leader of the famed NASHENSEMBLE, has made dozens of recordings. He has performed on most of the world's major concert halls. Lovers of violin sonatas will hear three of the finest sonatas in the repertoire when Leo teams up with young Trisdee Na Patalung, the 17-year-old Thai composer pianist who recently had his concerto debut with the Bangkok Sinfonietta. This recital is a rareopportunity to hear one of the most highly regarded talents in the international music community joining forces with one of the community's youngest new members.
Of Leo Phillips's playing, the Daily Telegraph has said "as invigorating as it was devilishly hair-raising", and the Observer calls his performaces "witty and sonorous."
Tickets for this performance are a bargain at 500 baht (half price for students) and made be ordered in advance by at the BANGKOK OPERA OFFICES (19/22 Sukhumvit Soi 19) from 10:30 to 6 weekdays Tel:(02)254-4787/254-4712. They are also, of course, available at the door. Your patronage allows the Bangkok Opera to continue to provide good classical music to the Bangkok community. Don't miss this!
Leo Phillips is on an extended trip to the region and will be seen later this year as principal guest conductor of the Bangkok Opera, playing and conducting the Mozart 4th Violin Concerto as well as the opera's November production of THE TURN OF THE SCREW.
