Macromedia (Nasdaq: MACR) today announced Macromedia? FlashPaper? 2, the simplest way to convert printable files into universally sharable electronic documents.
Macromedia FlashPaper 2 is the only multiple-output, e-document creation tool that enables leading desktop applications to create web-ready Flash (SWF) documents that can be instantly viewed within any web browser. FlashPaper 2 also enables secure, compact Adobe PDF files to be created from any printable document for off-line archiving and e-mail distribution of electronic documents.
“Macromedia FlashPaper 2 provides a unique solution for fast, easy and secure e-document creation for knowledge workers and web professionals who want to display documents online,” said Ng Yew Hwee, Director, Macromedia South Asia.
“FlashPaper documents load instantly inside any web browser with Flash Player 6 or higher installed, delighting content creators and web visitors alike.”
FlashPaper 2 creates documents that display online by leveraging the ubiquity of Flash Player, which ensures it can be immediately experienced by more than half a billion web users. This means FlashPaper documents open in less than a second directly in web browsers.
FlashPaper 2 provides one-click generation of web-friendly Flash? format documents that can be published using web-editing tools including Macromedia Contribute, Dreamweaver?, or any HTML editor. This new version creates Flash documents that include integrated support for text search and selection, hyperlinks, and bookmarks. FlashPaper integrates with all Microsoft Office products on Windows to enable intuitive creation of both Flash and PDF files from a simple in-product menu.
FlashPaper documents can be integrated into any existing website, Flash project, Macromedia Breeze? presentation, or Macromedia Breeze Live meeting.
FlashPaper 2 is included with Contribute? 3 on Windows and Mac OS X and is a component of the new Macromedia Web Publishing System. This bundled version FlashPaper 2 for OS X does not include Microsoft Office integration or drag and drop integration with Contribute, but it can be used to generate Flash documents.
