Bangkok--Aug 8--Shin Satellite

Shin Satellite Public Company Limited ( SSA ) today confirms that THAICOM 4 ( IPSTAR ), the largest and most advanced broadband satellite in the world, will be launched on Thursday, 11 August 2005. The live broadcast can be viewed on ITV and Channel 11, starting from 13.00 ( Bangkok local time ). Mr. Paiboon Panuwattanawong, Managing Director of IPSTAR Company Limited, disclosed that Arianespace, the launcher of THAICOM 4 ( IPSTAR ), has confirmed to the Company that the satellite is scheduled to be launched on Thursday, 11 August 2005. THAICOM 4 (IPSTAR) will be launched using the Ariane 5G launch vehicle by the French company Arianespace from its launch site at Kourou Space Center, French Guiana, South America. THAICOM 4 ( IPSTAR ) is well-recognized as the first, the largest and most advanced broadband satellite in the world. THAICOM 4 ( IPSTAR ) covers the entire Asia-Pacific Region, serving over two billion people. THAICOM 4 ( IPSTAR ) was developed by Thais, with several patents already registered for the design of THAICOM 4 ( IPSTAR ) technology. Mr. Paiboon also says that two local Thai television channels, ITV and Channel 11 will be programming the live broadcast of the THAICOM 4 ( IPSTAR ) launch event for Thais to witness this new page in the history of Thailand’s Telecommunications Industry.
