Panasonic Launches “ Global Plasma Roadshow ”in Thailand to Introduce Consumers the 5 Advantages of Plasma TVs

--The company focuses to be the market leader in Plasma TVs.-- -- Well suited for increasing market needs for large screen TVs in digital era -- Panasonic, one of the market leaders of Flat-panel TVs sized launched its “Global Plasma Roadshow” at Siam Paragon, Bangkok, Thailand today, with an exhibit of its VIERA Plasma TV lineup including the world’s largest 103-inch Plasma TV. The event at Siam Paragon will be a part of its global promotion campaign covering over 80 major cities around the world this year. The roadshow presents the ‘Five Plasma Advantages’ with the exhibits of Panasonic’s full line up of Viera Plasma TVs from 42-inch up to 103-inch models, and demonstration explaining consumer benefits , such as extended lifetime, energy-efficiency and high picture quality. Panasonic believes that Plasma TVs offer more consumer benefits than other large screen systems. As the world’s leader in Plasma TVs, it is the company’s responsibility to provide information on Plasma’s advantages; therefore,customers are confident in choosing Panasonic Viera Plasma TVs. Apart from Thailand, the “Global Plasma Roadshow” has continued in other countries in the Asia Pacific region including Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. Meeting fast-growing demands for large screen flat panel TVs Panasonic forecasts that the share of Flat-panel TVs among the global TV market will increase up to 65% in 2010 when the total market demand is estimated 200 million units. And a segment of 42-inch or larger screen-size models is expected to be 30% of the total demand. For Thailand , Panasonic have target to maintain Number 1 Plasma TV with 35% market share in 2007. With a strong confidence in the Plasma technology’s advantage in terms of picture quality over the other flat panel technologies, Panasonic estimates that the market global demand for Plasma TVs will increase to 30 million units in 2010. In order to meet such forecasts of global demand, Panasonic is building a new PDP (Plasma Display Panel) manufacturing facility in Japan as its fifth PDP plant, enabling the company by far the largest Plasma manufacturer in the world. There are many reasons for the growing popularity of flat-panel TVs, particularly Plasma TVs. Panasonic expects that the global demand for Plasma TVs will greatly increase with upcoming high profile international sports events such as the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. “ The demand for PDPs for business-use as multipurpose displays for business, educational and medical applications is also increasing.
