Manpower, the nation’s leader in employment services industry, celebrates the second quarter with an honor as one of Ethisphere’s 2008 World’s Most Ethical Companies announced at an Ethisphere and Forbes joint-conference. The company has also energized its organization with a recent announcement of 2% raise for employees as a policy to curb the current economic situation.

Mr. Simon Matthews, Country Manager of Manpower (Thailand) Company Limited, said: “In the current economic conditions where the cost of living in Thailand has risen significantly, particularly in the prices of petrol and consumer goods, our entire staff as well as the Thai workforce in general are being directly affected financially. Manpower is well aware of the situation, and as a measure to provide a relief and help ease the increased burden of our employees, we have approved a cost-of-living allowance of Bt 500 per month to be paid to our full-time employees, on-site staff, and contracted staff whose average income per month including commission does not exceed Bt25,000, based on first-quarter database. This allowance payment, which equals a raise of 2%, will be processed separately from salary, effective as of 1 June 2008.”

“The approval of the cost-of-living allowance in Q2/2008 is a positive signal for both internal and external drives for the development of our organization, in line with the five key areas of focus under our global vision and strategies, namely, Revenue, Efficiency, Innovation, Thought Leadership, and Organization and Culture. The move will bring a positive result of increased confidence in the effectiveness and efficiency of our business operation and reflects our good corporate image as the provider of services that also include recruitment of personnel,” he added.

Most recently, the Ethisphere Institute has named Manpower Inc. to Ethisphere’s 2008 “World’s Most Ethical Companies” list from its consideration of 3,000 organisations. The award was revealed at the Ethisphere and Forbes joint-conference, “Driving Profit through Ethical Leadership,” on 3 June. The World’s Most Ethical Companies list will also be featured in the Q2 issue of Ethisphere Magazine.

"It's an honor for the Manpower team to receive affirmation for the work they accomplish from such a prestigious source," said Manpower Inc. Chairman and CEO Jeff Joerres. "A strong commitment to ethics and social responsibility is deeply embedded in Manpower's culture. Everyday we set out to do the right thing for the millions of people coming to us looking for a job. By providing them with solid benefits, safe working environments, honorable wages and access to quality workforce development programs, we believe we can affect the way work positively influences a person's life."
