Glico launched new wonder chocolate products “Jeloly & Kawaii” to boost the chocolate market together with the special campaign “The Wonder Sweet Valentine’s Day” especially for chocolate lovers!! Mr. Jiro Watabiki, Managing Director of Thai Glico Co., Ltd. revealed that, in the fourth quarter, the company had launched its two new chocolate products – “Glico Jeloly”, jelly gelatin mixed 20% fruit juice coated with chocolate flavour and fruit flavors targeted at the customers between the ages of 11 and 15; and Glico Kawaii Strawberry, roasted peanut coated with strawberry flavour which targets at those aged between 15 and 18. The launch is aimed to strengthen the brand’s chocolate products and to provide the teenage customers – the main target – with more alternatives to enjoy. Also, there have been adjustments to the packaging of Gilco’s four popular chocolate products, which are Alfie, Two Tone, Almond Fried and California Bar, to add more modern image to the products and to make it clear about the target of each. Mr.Hironobu Harada, General Manager in the Product Development and Advertisement group, added that, in the product introduction phase, Glico would launch a marketing activity to thank the customers and welcome the Valentine’s Day festival with the campaign “The Wonder Sweet Valentine’s Day” where three tour programs would be offered – “Flying Sweet Valentine” for the customers to enjoy the splendid atmosphere and romantic dinner in a balloon in Chiang Mai, “Ocean Sweet Valentine” to revel in an exquisite lunch at dusk on a yacht in Pattaya, and “Sightseeing Bangkok Horizontal Sweet Valentine” to experience the marvelous view of Bangkok from a helicopter and have a luxurious dinner on top of a skyscraper at Sirocco Restaurant. All the customers have to do is to buy any of the 12 products from Glico – Jeloly, Kawaii Chocolate, Kawaii Strawberry, Almond Fried, California Bar, Almond Ball, Alfie 6 and 10 baht, Two Tone 6 and 10 baht and Twinkie 6 and 10 baht, and choose their most desired tour program as well as indicate the reasons of their choice on the empty package of the product. The collection of the packages will start in December and the names of the lucky winners will be announced in February. The special three gifts will be given to the lucky customers to enjoy their best time on February 14, 2010, the Valentine’s Day. For the marketing communication, Glico will provide 2 TVCFs – “New Members” to introduce “Jeloly and Kawaii Strawberry” and “Alfie Band” to introduce the new packaging - have been made. Other advertisements and sales promotion tools include those in magazines, websites, postcards, leaflets, BTS advertising media, displays and so on. Currently, the total value of the chocolate market is approximately 2,800 million baht, has expanded for 20%. Due to its continuous growth, the market still remains highly competitive.
