Bangkok--23 Aug--Spark Communications

Quest Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: QSFT) today announced the acquisition of Germany-based V?lcker Informatik AG, a privately held identity management solutions provider specializing in the management of user identities, access privileges and security across multiple applications and systems. The acquisition further extends the Quest? One Identity Solution product portfolio, adding stronger user and resource provisioning, self-service and workflow capabilities to an already robust set of tools and technology that simplify identity and access management (IAM). The acquisition marks an important step forward for Quest as one of the leading providers of IAM solutions. “IAM ensures appropriate access to resources across heterogeneous technology environments,” writes co-author Ant Allan, research vice president, Gartner. “This is a crucial and increasingly business-aligned undertaking for any enterprise — particularly due to increasingly rigorous compliance requirements — and requires business skills, not just technical expertise. Enterprises that develop mature IAM capabilities can reduce the cost of managing users' identities and entitlements and, more importantly, become more agile in supporting new business initiatives and contributing to profitability.” 1 Quest One simplifies IAM by consolidating directories, unifying identities around an organization’s existing investments, and automating administrative tasks, thereby increasing security and ensuring compliance. ActiveEntry from V?lcker extends this efficiency, security and compliance to the entire range of systems, platforms and applications across the enterprise. Unlike other Identity Management solutions on the market today, which can be difficult to install and often require up to 90% custom coding, Active Entry can be used out-of-the-box already 90% configured. With this dramatic advancement in the technology, Quest delivers a business-centric identity management solution, making management of the identity lifecycle less complex and more affordable than traditional solutions, while maintaining the levels of compliance and security organizations demand. “For a variety of reasons, many organizations have been unable to implement identity and access management through a traditional framework solution,” said Doug Garn, CEO and president, Quest Software. “The launch of Quest One in 2008 gave organizations a simplified approach to addressing key IAM challenges based on the Microsoft technology stack. The V?lcker acquisition adds an extra dimension to the Quest One solution by providing the power, security and efficiency that organizations demand across their entire enterprise. This addresses the common barriers of cost, time and complexity typically associated with IAM.”
