Thai Team To Focus on Access, Innovation, Local Content Creation & Helping Thai Businesses
Google Inc. today announced its deepening investment in Southeast Asia by opening a new office in Bangkok, Thailand, the second local operation launched in 2011. This new office is one more step for Google to more effectively bring its leading advertising platform, Web services and search experience to users, advertisers and partners in Thai.
Just over six months ago, Thailand had 20 million people online, and today according to Nielsen and the latest figures from NECTEC, there are 25 million Internet users. As more Thais go online everyday, more opportunities are created to realize the true value of the Internet - whether as a way to connect, share and express yourself across a global community or as an engine of economic growth providing a platform for businesses to engage with their customers and a stepping stone to going global.
“We are pleased to establish our newest operations in Bangkok, where we can leverage the highest quality Thai talent to better serve our valued Thai users, customers and partners and positively contribute to Thai society,” said Julian Persaud, Managing Director for Google in Southeast Asia.
The possibilities are limitless when Thailand’s creativity and passion is paired with the power of the Web. Google sees great potential in Thailand to build on the strong momentum established across Southeast, the fastest-growing region of the world’s fastest-growing region (Asia Pacific).
Recently appointed Country Head of Google Thailand, Ariya Banomyong, shared his own observations saying, “I’ve been delighted by the warm welcome we’ve already received from existing customers and partners here. On behalf of the Thai team I’d like to say thank you, especially to our Thai users. The trust Thailand has in our products and platforms is precious to us. We’re honoured and humbled when we learn about how Google is making a positive difference in people’s lives and when we look into the future, we will continue to focus on the user and believe all else will follow.”
The launch of Google’s Thailand office is in line with Google's commitment to its international business as well as its ongoing efforts to provide Thais with local products that make their lives easier, such as Google Maps, Google News and Google Translate.
