A leader in global payment services, together with Western Union Agents, the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives, Thanachart Bank PCL, cleaning staff from the Phra Nakhon District Office, Bangkok residents, and tourists, teamed up to clean Khao San Road, a street popular with tourists. The effort, which included a donation of 100,000 baht by Western Union, marks the culminating Corporate Social Responsibility ("CSR") activity held in celebration of the company's 20th year of providing service in Thailand.
Khao San Road is lined with many hotels where most tourist coaches originate to transport tourists to various parts of Thailand, from Chiang Mai to Ko Pha Ngan. The campaign aimed to restore Thailand's appeal as a destination for tourists from around the world.
Mr. Atish Shrestha – Regional Director of Indochina Western Union and Western Union Thailand, said, "Over two decades, Western Union has been providing service in Thailand with a commitment to support and serve its communities by providing convenient, fast, and reliable money transfer services to help enhance community development. To mark our 20th year of providing service in Thailand, we supported several CSR initiatives related to environmental and cultural preservation with a focus on Thailand's popular tourist spots, including Amphawa Floating Market, Damnuen Saduak Floating Market, Wat Phra Ram 9 (Temple), and Hat Toei Ngam Beach in Satthahip District. Today, we are at Khao San Road and are delighted to team up with our Agents to help maintain a clean environment."
Mr. Somchai Tripittayakul – Director of the Phra Nakhon District Office, said, "It's a pleasure to have Western Union here today, and we are very thankful to receive this equipment, which we will use to regularly clean the streets in our area. In addition to Khao San Road, which welcomes a huge number of Thai and foreign tourists, we want to ensure we always keep this place and its surroundings clean for our influx of tourists each day. Lastly, we want to congratulate Western Union on 20 successful years of providing service here in Thailand."
The campaign started with a donation ceremony followed by the clean-up activity on Khao San Road that covered a total distance of 360 meters. Among those participating in the campaign were volunteers from Western Union, the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives, Thanachart Bank PCL, cleaning staff from the Phra Nakhon District Office, Bangkok residents, and tourists.
