On September 2nd, 2024, Phayao University, under the leadership of Associate Professor Dr. Supakorn Pongbangpho, President of the University of Phayao, held a meeting to discuss the project "Preparation for the Establishment of a University Holding Company" at the Active Learning Classroom on the first floor of the General Instruction Building. The purpose of the meeting was to develop research and innovation that can be applied in the business sector, which is crucial for strengthening the economy and promoting national development. However, effectively translating research into commercial success remains a challenge. Universities must effectively manage resources to support the growth of businesses resulting from research, including investing in new businesses (spin-offs) and providing support for new entrepreneurs to sustainably commercialize research results.
In the morning, Assistant Professor Dr. Tanyanuparb Anantana, Vice President of Chiang Mai University, delivered a special presentation on "Guidelines for Establishing a University Holding Company (UHC) and Investment Mechanisms in University Innovation Businesses." In the afternoon, participants shared their knowledge on guidelines for establishing UHC and joint innovation development among universities in the network. The focus was on policy and investment strategies to foster the development of commercially viable innovations. The expected outcomes of the meeting include clear guidelines for establishing UHC and creating a network of cooperation between universities and entrepreneurs in innovation development.
