The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA BANGKOK), in collaboration with Tang Contemporary Art, is proud to present "No Heart Here," a groundbreaking solo exhibition by renowned Thai artist Kantapon Metheekul, better known as Gongkan. Running from 14 September to 27 October 2024, this highly anticipated exhibition marks Gongkan's homecoming, offering Thai audiences the chance to experience his internationally acclaimed works firsthand.
Gongkan, a name synonymous with modern surrealism, has captivated art enthusiasts worldwide with his distinctive ability to seamlessly blend reality and fantasy. Drawing on his experiences in both New York and Bangkok, Gongkan's art transcends time and space, delving into the relationship between the external world and inner consciousness.
"No Heart Here" invites visitors into Gongkan's dreamlike world, where familiar scenes—grassy fields, starry skies, and shifting weather—become metaphors for deeper psychological and emotional explorations. The exhibition delves into the intricacies of modern life, illustrating the divide between body and mind and the inner dialogues that often go unspoken.
Visually striking and intellectually engaging, Gongkan's art features his signature teleport art with embedded canvases, revealing captivating and surreal scenes. These elements challenge viewers to reflect on the nature of reality and imagination. By merging pop culture with profound artistic concepts, Gongkan creates works that are both accessible and deeply resonant. This exhibition also marks his first full-scale solo exhibition in Thailand in three years.
