Bangkok Bank participates in the 'Upper Gulf of Thailand Conservation' activity, joining forces with Samut Sakhon fishermen to care for the Thai seas - create artificial reefs to restore the ecosystem as a trusted partner and reliable close friend sustainably conserving the environment
Bangkok Bank Vice President, Office of the President Dr.Jirawat Panpiemras, Vice Presidents of Public Relations Department Mr.Suwit Indrachalerm, Assistant Vice President Regional Manager Region 3 - Provincial Commercial Banking Mr.Sarote Rotejanasarote along with Bangkok Bank executives and staff joined the 'Upper Gulf of Thailand Sea Conversation at Samut Sakhon' activity at the Tha Chin River embankment in Samut Sakhon Province. The event was presided over by Samut Sakhon Governor Mr.Narit Niramayawong and has been organized for 14 consecutive years by the Samut Sakhon Fisheries Association to unite efforts to protect the sea, marine and natural resources while raising awareness about sustainable resource use. This will help restore Thai seas and the deteriorating ecosystem which is affected by issues such as global warming, illegal fishing, and the rapid increase of industrial factories.
"On this occasion, the Bank also supported the building of artificial reefs from old cement mixer barrels which have been beautifully painted to serve as underwater habitats for marine species at the mouth of the Gulf of Thailand. This promotes a balanced ecosystem, prevents coastal erosion, and combats illegal fishing by preventing trawlers from encroaching on fishermen's areas. The Bank is committed to being 'trusted partner and reliable close friend' and participates in the conservation of the Gulf of Thailand through the 'Bualuang Save the Earth: Rak Tha Chin' project. This project has included activities such as installing litter traps, providing education and encouraging waste separation to reduce waste in the Tha Chin River before it flows into the sea. Since February 2024, the project has prevented more than 31.67 tonnes of waste from entering the Gulf of Thailand (as of the end of April 2025). Additionally, the Bank has extended the value of waste through participation in the Don't Cry I Care sustainable waste separation project and established community recycling banks to create sustainable waste management practices."
