Bangchak Executive Shares Insights on Supporting Thailand's Carbon Market and Empowering Engineers toward Net Zero

At the TGO's press conference, Mrs. Gloyta participated in a panel discussion on "Roles and Perspectives of Different Sectors as Carbon Market Participants," drawing from Bangchak Group's experience as a project developer (e.g., renewable energy and nature-based carbon sequestration), a buyer of credits for event and personal carbon neutrality, and a trading platform developer. She emphasized the role of the Carbon Markets Club (CMC), co-founded by Bangchak, BCPG, and partners, which supports broader awareness, understanding, and access to the carbon market among all stakeholders. The initiative aims to promote the development of Thailand's carbon credit market and contribute to enhancing national carbon standards to meet international expectations, with transparency and credibility. One pathway toward this goal is regional collaboration under the ASEAN Common Carbon Framework.

In her address on "Challenges and Opportunities for Thai Engineers and Industry in the Transition to Carbon Neutrality," Mrs. Gloyta reflected on the broader transformation reshaping global industries, and the pivotal role Thai engineers must play in Thailand's Net Zero journey. She emphasized that engineers are no longer just implementers, but co-creators of the country's future pathways. The sustainability transition, she noted, is no longer a distant policy issue but one that directly impacts costs, competitiveness, and national economic resilience. Whether it be energy restructuring, improving production efficiency, or redesigning businesses to lower emissions, success depends on engineers who grasp the big picture and can work across disciplines and sectors. Drawing on Bangchak's own experience, she shared how the company has experimented and learned across diverse initiatives; developing clean, bio-based fuels, investing in renewable energy, supporting the carbon market, and partnering with communities to co-create circular economy models, among others. Whether deploying clean energy or designing locally tailored solutions, these efforts reflect the collaboration between engineers and professionals from multiple fields. Together, they are helping shape a more sustainable future, especially at a time when sustainability presents both a challenge and an opportunity for Thai industry.
