As an official sponsor of the B-Quik Thailand Super Series, Hankook Tire Thailand recently showcased its latest tire technologies at the Bangsaen Grand Prix, one of the country's premier motorsport events.

As part of its on-ground activation, Hankook Tire displayed two key product lines tailored to emerging market demands:
- iON Series: High-performance tires developed specifically for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs)
- Dynapro AT2 Xtreme: All-terrain tires built for on and off-road capability and durability
The iON GT SUV, fitted on the BYD ATTO 3, Thailand's best-selling EV, was a key highlight at the event, demonstrating Hankook Tire's commitment to the growing EV segment in Thailand.
Unlike traditional Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles, EVs are considerably heavier due to their battery packs, putting significantly more pressure on the tires, especially when using standard ICE tires. Hankook Tire's iON series is specifically engineered with reinforced structures and compounds to withstand this added weight, delivering durability, safety, and optimal performance under heavy loads.
During the event, several visitors voiced concerns about the short lifespan of tires currently used on their EVs. In response, Hankook Tire emphasised the iON series' low rolling resistance design, which not only helps extend driving range but also improves overall energy efficiency.
Additionally, EVs also deliver instant torque, which can lead to rapid tire wear if not properly managed. Hankook Tire's iON series addresses this issue with advanced rubber compounds and optimised tread patterns that ensure grip and durability even under high stress. Moreover, Hankook Tire's iSound AbsorberTM technology delivers a quieter ride, significantly enhancing overall driving comfort.
Mr Kahoon Kim, Managing Director of Hankook Tire Thailand, said: "As electric vehicles continue to gain momentum in Thailand, it's essential that tire technology evolves in tandem."Our iON series was engineered specifically to meet the performance and structural demands of EVs, from handling heavier loads to reducing road noise. Showcasing these innovations at the Bangsaen Grand Prix highlights our commitment to supporting the future of mobility with advanced, EV-ready solutions."
Currently, the following iON models are available in Thailand: iON evo and iON evo AS, both designed for high-performance electric driving, and iON GT, optimised for mileage and efficiency.
The iON ST AS, also focused on mileage, will be launched in Thailand soon.
