Premier Quality Starch Public Company Limited (PQS), a leading Thai producer of premium-grade tapioca starch, has announced a strategic collaboration with Sojitz Kaset Dee X Co., Ltd. (KDX), supports farmers in Thailand and its parent company Sojitz Corporation, a prominent Japanese trading conglomerate, to advance the groundbreaking "Low Carbon Starch" initiative. The partnership aims to revolutionize Thailand's tapioca starch industry by producing low-carbon, fully traceable starch that meets the demands of global markets increasingly focused on sustainability and ESG.

Mr. Rathwiroon Chanchungthaworn, Chief Executive Officer of PQS, stated: "Our partnership with Sojitz group lays a solid foundation for Thailand's agricultural sector to thrive sustainably on the global stage. The Low Carbon Starch initiative will provide PQS with a competitive edge in ESG-driven markets while also uplifting the livelihoods of farmers - the backbone of our supply chain. By integrating world-class technology and knowledge, Thai tapioca can become an environmentally friendly and truly premium-grade agricultural product."
Mr.Ryosuke Hori, President of KDX added: "We recognize PQS's potential and deep commitment to advancing modern agriculture. As a strategic partner, we will bring in KDX's AgTech expertise and leverage Sojitz's global market network to develop transparent, traceable low-carbon products tailored to the needs of customers in Japan, Europe, and beyond."
At the heart of this initiative is the development of a data collection system in Mukdahan Province andSakorn Nakhon Province where "KDX Connect", KDX's agricultural mobile application will be deployed to record detailed farming data. Coupled with satellite imagery analyzed by AI, this system will enable precise Carbon Footprint (CFP) calculations and full traceability of each production batch back to its origin. The pilot phase begins with 20 selected farmers, aiming to scale up to 200 farmers in the next quarter.
Various greenhouse gas reduction practices are also being trialed in the field, such as:
- Customized chemical fertilizer plans based on soil analysis
- Promoting the use of organic fertilizers
- Applying Biochar technology
- Enhancing farmers' knowledge through targeted agricultural training
This collaboration not only reinforces PQS's position as a leader in ESG-aligned agricultural innovation, but also elevates Thailand's tapioca starch industry to international standards. By building confidence in sourcing transparency and responsible production, PQS is strategically positioned to expand sustainably into global premium markets.
