Hankook Tire Selected as OE Supplier for All-Electric Porsche Macan

The Porsche Macan is one of the brand's highest-selling model series, and its electrified evolution marks a key milestone in the luxury EV market. Hankook's fitment further underscores the company's technological capabilities and growing role as a trusted partner for top-tier automotive manufacturers.

Designed specifically for high-performance EVs, the Ventus S1 evo3 ev combines cutting-edge technology with performance and comfort. Key features include optimised rolling resistance for extended driving range, high abrasion resistance for long-term durability, and wide centre tread blocks for strong grip and responsive handling on both wet and dry roads. To address the increased weight of EVs - estimated at around 2.4 tons for the Macan - the tires are built with reinforced carcass construction and aramid hybrid cords to maintain structural integrity and stability at high speeds.

Hankook's proprietary Sound Absorber Technology is integrated throughout the design process, reducing tread noise and enhancing cabin comfort, an essential consideration for engine-silent EVs. The tires are fitted in sizes 235/55R20Y XL (front) and 285/45R20Y XL (rear), and are marked with "NE0" on the sidewall.

This OE supply for the Porsche Macan reinforces Hankook's long-standing commitment to the premium automotive market. Since entering the premium OE segment in the late 2000s, the company has expanded its footprint through strategic R&D investments and partnerships with leading automakers, including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and Porsche. Hankook made its initial foray into the EV OE market with the Tesla Model 3 and now supplies tires to more than 10 global EV brands.

Currently, in Thailand, Hankook Tire offers premium EV tires specifically developed for electric vehicles, including plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and battery electric vehicles (BEV). The lineup features the iON series and Ventus S1 evo3 ev - both engineered to meet the unique performance requirements of EVs, such as heavier battery loads, instant torque, and reduced road noise.
