Japan's No. 1 Supermarket LOPIA JAPAN Launches First Thailand Store at Central Chaengwattana, Aiming to Revolutionize the Wagyu Market

Mr. Hitoshi Mizumoto, Director, Head of Asia Headquarters, revealed that LOPIA JAPAN, a supermarket specializing in Japanese food with authentic Japanese quality, officially opened its first store on 11 February 2026 on the G floor of Central Chaengwattana. The store focuses on importing and distributing products from Japan across five departments: the meat department, the fruits and vegetables department, the seafood department, the ready-to-eat foods department, and the processed products department. All departments are packed with freshness and quality across a total retail space of 1,000 square meters. LOPIA JAPAN's business philosophy is "Quality Products at Accessible Prices," with a commitment to offering lower prices for comparable products in the market and better quality at the same price, with the ultimate goal of delivering the best value to consumers. LOPIA JAPAN's international expansion strategy is driven by the vision of "bringing Japanese food to the world" and creating stores where everyone can "experience Japan without traveling to Japan," complemented by a "food theme park" atmosphere that delivers happiness, fun, love, and heartfelt connections that encourage customers to return again and again.

Mr. Mizumoto added that key product highlights at LOPIA JAPAN supermarket that Thai shoppers should not miss include premium-quality wagyu beef imported from Japan. LOPIA JAPAN manages its own procurement and processing of beef, enabling effective control over both quality and pricing, and positioning the company to create the first-ever "wagyu revolution" in Thailand, allowing Thai consumers to enjoy wagyu at accessible prices. Another must-try highlight is extra-large sushi made from fresh seafood ingredients such as tuna and hotate, offering thick, generously sized pieces that deliver value in every bite, paired with sushi rice seasoned with authentic Japanese vinegar to provide a dining experience as close as possible to eating in Japan. In addition, LOPIA JAPAN imports a wide range of fresh products, dry goods, seasonings, and foods made from authentic Japanese ingredients, such as strawberries, apples, sweet potatoes, pizza, cheesecake, pudding, seasoning sauces, and many more items, allowing Thai consumers to select and enjoy delicious meals every day.

LOPIA JAPAN supermarket is a retail business under the OIC Group, which operates across various industries, including livestock, food manufacturing, and import-export businesses. For the fiscal year ending February 2025, the OIC Group generated total sales of 521 billion yen. LOPIA JAPAN supermarket currently operates 139 branches in Japan (as of 11 February 2026). In July 2025, the company won first prize in the "Best of Super 2025" competition, which selects Japan's No. 1 supermarket, affirming its quality and strong customer satisfaction among Japanese consumers and supporting the expansion of the same experience to international markets.

Mr. Mizumoto further stated that LOPIA JAPAN's international expansion began in Taiwan in January 2023, where it successfully expanded to nine branches in less than three years. Thailand is the second country outside Japan and the first in Southeast Asia to host LOPIA JAPAN.

"Currently, Taiwan serves as our model for international market expansion, where we have successfully used a variety of strategies to build consumer awareness that our food products offer superior differentiation in both quality and taste. Once customers recognize the value we deliver, LOPIA JAPAN supermarkets in Taiwan have become extremely popular, to the point that customer entry must be limited per round. We believe we will be able to create the same phenomenon in Thailand as well," Mr. Mizumoto concluded.
