Krungthai Card Public Company Limited (KTC), in collaboration with Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort, has launched "Sala Lakorn", a new theater restaurant concept on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, positioning venue as a cultural experience that goes beyond conventional dining offerings.
Rather than a traditional dinner show, Sala Lakorn brings the language of theater onto the dining floor, where cuisine, performance, and setting unfold as a single narrative. The initiative reflects the growing Experience Economy, as both Thai and international travelers increasingly seek immersive, culturally rooted experiences rather than passive leisure.
At the heart of Sala Lakorn is "The Eternal Siam" (Suwan Siam Nirandorn), a 60-minute contemporary theatrical performance conceived and directed by Mr. Manop Meejamrat (Khru Nai), a National Silpathorn Artist. The production interprets Thai history, river-based civilization, and performing arts heritage—ranging from the Royal Barge Procession to Nang Yai shadow puppetry—through a modern theatrical lens.
Mr. Michael Parker, General Manager of Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort, said Sala Lakorn was created to deepen cultural engagement rather than simply add entertainment to dining.
"Sala Lakorn allows guests to experience Thai culture through a theatrical journey set against the river. It is about creating memories—where art, place, and storytelling come together in a way that cannot be replicated elsewhere," he said.
From KTC's perspective, the collaboration aligns with changing consumer values. Ms. Varitta Phatanarajta, Head of Credit Card Marketing Division at KTC, noted that members increasingly prioritize meaning and emotional value over price alone.
"This partnership reflects a shift toward Value over Price, where dining becomes an experience with cultural depth. At the same time, it supports Thai creative industries and strengthens sustainable cultural tourism," she said.
The Sala Lakorn experience is complemented by a curated international buffet, featuring premium seafood, authentic Thai dishes, and a variety of desserts, served alongside panoramic night views of the Chao Phraya River—reinforcing the concept of dining as a multisensory theatrical experience.
KTC VISA cardmembers receive a 35% discount on the Grand Dinner Buffet, at a special rate of THB 1,978 net per person (regular price THB 2,900 net, inclusive of soft drinks). The offer is valid from January 15 to June 30, 2026, with service available daily from 18:00 to 22:00, and performances from 19:00 to 20:00.
