PTT Welcomes Inaugural LNG Cargo from U.S. under Long-Term SPA to Fortify Thailand's Energy Security

PTT Public Company Limited (PTT), led by Mr. Prasong Intranongphai, Acting Chief Operating Officer of Upstream Petroleum Business Group, and Mr. Pongpan Amornvivat, Senior Executive Vice President of Natural Gas Business Unit, together with Mr. Anatol Feygin, Chief Commercial Officer of Cheniere Energy, Inc., the largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer and exporter in the United States. On this occasion, Mr. Sean O'Neill, Ambassador of the United States to Thailand, honored the event and presided over the reception ceremony of the first LNG cargo delivered from the United States to Thailand. The LNG shipment marks the inaugural delivery under a long-term LNG sales and purchase agreement with a volume of 1 million tonnes per annum for a period of 15 years, implemented in accordance with the resolution of the National Energy Policy Committee (NEPC) dated 12 July 2022.

This direct import of LNG from producers marks a significant milestone in strengthening the country's long-term energy security and enhances the national ability to diversify energy supply sources beyond the Middle East and Asia. It also helps manage energy cost risks arising from volatility in global markets and supports energy demand across the power generation and industrial sectors, thereby driving the nation's economic growth. This agreement aligns with the Energy Trilemma: ensuring energy security, promoting affordability, and fostering environmental sustainability.
