This mid-February the Chinese Year of the Horse gallops into view at award-winning Summer Palace, InterContinental Bangkok's renowned Cantonese restaurant, where sensational flavours from the streets of Hong Kong are prepared by twice-Michelin lauded Executive Chinese Chef Shui Wing Yau and his colleagues.
To mark this auspicious occasion in the Chinese lunar calendar, Chef Yau and his team introduce a choice of special set menus starring Cantonese classics done the right way. While both menus feature appetisers of roast duck 'Lo Hei' salad and hearty fish maw soups, plus main courses of braised pork knuckle with lotus roots, and stir-fried Chinese baby cabbage with dried scallop and sliced abalone, the Emperor set menu for 4-6 guests highlights superb dishes of wok-fried prawns in sweet and sour sauce, and steamed fresh bamboo fish in an aromatic light soy sauce.
The Fortune Family set menu banquet for 10-12 guests, on the other hand, has stand-out offerings that include braised 6-head abalone and Japanese shiitake mushroom in abalone sauce, and steamed whole grouper in an aromatic light soy sauce.
Delightful desserts of Sweet red bean soup with sesame dumplings, and traditional Nian Gao - a special pan-fried Chinese New Year cake - fittingly round off two great set menu options for family, friends and colleagues to welcome the Year of the Horse in style.
The Chinese New Year Set Menus are available at Summer Palace on 17 February to 3 March 2026 for lunch from 11.30 to 14.30 hours and dinner from 18.00 to 22.30 hours. Emperor set menu for 4 to 6 persons is THB 9,888 net and Fortune set menu for 10 to 12 persons is THB 31,888 net.
