The Kunlun Culture Forum

Recently, the "Tracing the Roots of the Spirit" parallel session of the Kunlun Culture Forum was held in Xining, Qinghai Province. Experts and scholars in ethnology, religious studies, literature, history, art, and cultural communication, together with representatives of relevant departments, gathered to conduct in-depth discussions on the historical origins, symbolic construction, spiritual connotations, contemporary value, and innovative dissemination of Kunlun culture.

During the presentations, participants drew on their respective fields of expertise to address topics including "The Symbolic Construction, Cultural Roots, and Poetic Expression of Kunlun Culture," "The Logic of Mutual Construction Between Kunlun Culture and the Unity of Chinese Civilization," "The Mandate of Heaven and the Integration of Kunlun Culture," and "Kunlun in Rock Art." Their contributions offered academic perspectives and research insights from multiple dimensions, further broadening the scholarly horizon of Kunlun cultural studies.

On August 20 the experts and scholars traveled to Golmud, Qinghai Province, for field research.

They visited the Kunlun Sacred Spring, the Wuji Longfeng Palace, the Yeniugou rock paintings, the Queen Mother of the West's Jade Pool, and the Yuxu Peak viewing platform, where they experienced firsthand the magnificent natural landscapes of the Kunlun Mountains and their rich historical and cultural heritage.

The Yeniugou rock paintings were a key focus of the expedition. Dating back to ancient times, they depict the Queen Mother of the West, yaks, archery scenes, and other subjects. Deep in the river valley, the experts paused and bent down before clusters of engraved rocks, closely examining the depth and direction of the carving marks while exchanging observations and discussing their findings.

By experiencing the natural landscapes of the Kunlun Mountains and their historical and cultural remains firsthand, they sought to deepen their understanding of the spiritual significance of Kunlun culture and promote the integration of academic research with cultural preservation, cultural tourism, and communication practices.
