SVI TRIPLES TOTAL CAPACITY WITH NEW PLANT

Bangkok--Feb 28--SVI SVI TRIPLES TOTAL CAPACITY WITH NEW PLANT Breaks new ground with TS16949 Certification Svi Pubile Co ltd (SVI), one of Thailand's leading electronic manufacturing service companies, is to triple its total manufacturing capabilities with the opening of a second factory. The company is leasing a new facility of almost 9,500 m(2) in Bangkradi Industrial Estate, nearly double the size of its present facilities. SVI currently operates from a 5,000 m (2)factory and head office at Chaeng Wattana. SVI expects that the new factory will provide jobs for an additional 1,500 staff over the next four years. The company presently employs about 1,600 people. SVI CEO Mr Poe Lothongkam said the expansion of new and larger premise was a reflection of continuing significant growth in SVI business. "SVI has experienced more than 50 per cent growth in sales revenue over the past three years and to meet the continued requirements of our customers we need to have additional capacity and skills," he said The new plant in Bangkradi will support the current business operations and accommodate future manufacturing expansion. "we think the new plant is a major step in our growth plan and that it consolidates our position as one of Thailand's leading suppliers of turnkey electronic components and box-build for original equipment manufacturers." Mr Poe said an important part of SVI's business strategy was to focus on Europe where the maturity of the markets ensured strong and reliable growth. The compahy will continue to explore new business from the U.S.market. More than two thirds of SVI's business is with Europe, with the United States accounting for the bulk of the remainder. SVI's announcement of its expansion plans comes hot on the heels of the award of TS16949 certification, an achievement that allows the company to support the automotive industry. SVI is the first Thai company with large scale manufacturing facilities and more than 1,000 employees to win this certification. SVI now expects to win substantial extra business from the Thai automotive sector.
