Ageha, the daughter of a prostitute, was taken in after her mother's death by GLICO, a prostitute from Shanghai who came to Japan several years ago and lived in "Yentown", a slum outside of Tokyo. Ageha was named after a tattoo of an "Ageha" (swallowtail butterfly) on GLICO's chest.
One night, Ageha and other friends accidentally discover a cassette tape inside a dead body of a gangster's stomach. They decoded the hidden data and printed thousands of counterfeit banknotes. War between gangsters began and the story raced to its fiery conclusion.

NotesThis film can be regarded as an experimental film by a popular Director Morita Yoshimitsu. Most of the scenes are filled with Japanese language displayed on computer screens, which occasionally make this film popular among foreigners who study Japanese language.

"Miss Lonely" is one of the three delightful fantasies of youth films OBAYASHI Nobuhiko directed. "I Are You, You Am Me" (TENKOSEI) in 1982, "The Time Traveller" (TOKI O KAKERU SHOJO) in 1983 are his previous films all of which are set in ONOMICHI, OBAYASHI's hometown. The youth of the hero, his mother and the director are intertwined and brought to the screen with nostalgia, and a warm sensitivity to the passing time. OBAYASHI revealed that scenery from his past is the subject of this film and that when he was a kid, he liked to look through telescopes and found it especially interesting to look through upside down and he sensed reality in the topsy-turvy image in the lens.

Oharu is a striking beautiful woman. She started working in the Imperial Palace as a waiting maid. When she was a dancer, she was selected to be the concubine of a powerful feudal lord. She, at last, descended to where she is today a streetwalker.

The story focuses on criticism on male chauvinism in the feudal era through the life of sensual woman. The humble woman named "Oharu" has become an object of men's pleasure because of her striking beauty. The tragedy of Oharu's cruel fate that she had to reduce herself to a streetwalker is depicted with a realistic and cool touch. Detailed and meticulous description of customs and manners is highly acclaimed worldwide. Following KUROSAWA, MIZOGUCHI's name has become worthy of attention internationally.

This film focuses on Drama students in a girls' school who are preparing themselves to present a play entitled "The Cherry Orchard" to celebrate the Anniversary of the school. As the girl students are all in teenage, some of their behaviour are improper and are criticized by seniors and friends. The girls, somehow, overcome the problems at the end. They are told to prepare the play immediately.
Notes
As in other teen films, the characters are falling in and out of love, couching the main conflict between students and faculty within fairly standard melodrama. What's unusual is that there are basically no male characters. Female students play male roles both in the play and in real life. This is certainly related to Takarazuka Theater, probably largely responsible for making it a box office hit and Kinema Jumpo's Best One. Twenty-two actresses are amateurs chosen by the audition, vividly play roles of students of girls school. Director Nakahara Shun, who made his first film in 1983, attracted a great deal of attention by this film, and then made "Twelve Gentle Japanese" (12-NIN NO YASASHII NIPPONJIN) IN 1991.(Kinama Jumpo #1)

This film depicts another kind of love; love between sister and brother. The sister tries to tame her younger brother who is inobedient and behave unproperly. She has to refuse her marriage proposal because of him. One day, the brother is diagnosed with a pulmonary disease and is sent to a clinic near the seashore. He gets worse and passed away at last. She is beside him at his dead bed.
Notes
"Younger Brother" is one of Ichikawa Kon's most honoured films, winning an award at Cannes and earning selection as the best film of 1960 in the Kinama Jumpo's critics poll. This film is blessed with excellent performances by its four main actors and brilliant cinematography by Miyagawa Kazuo.

This film is not only arguably director KUMASHIRO Tatsumi's best film, but it is also considered the best Japanese "pink" film or one of the landmarks of Japanese cinema. MIYASHITA Junko's work with KUMASHIRO made her one of the top actresses in Japan.

Togashi Shin worked as assistant director on Somai Shinji films like TYPHOON CLUB and HIKARU ONNA, as well as for Izutsu Kazuyuki and Hirayama Hideyuki. This is his second feature film following OFF-BALANCE.
