Pond's is focused on boldly moving into the facial whitening cream market for the third quarter of 2006, with the launch of Pond's On Tour, which will provide free skin checks to women nationwide. The initiative is built on Pond's leadership in the facial whitening product segment, reflecting its image of being the skin specialist that truly understands what Thai women demand.
Mrs. Wannipa Bhakdibutra, Vice President, Personal Care, Unilever Thai Trading Limited, said, "The Pond's On Tour program is built on the successful Pond's White Beauty Detox, which has received good acceptance during the first half of the year. Equipped with our innovative skin check system using modern German technology and manned by a team of skin specialists from the Pond's Institute, a fleet of ten mobile units will provide free skin checks to women in 73 of Thailand's provinces, over a period of two months beginning today until early-September 2006. Through this initiative, we intend to allow Thai women to learn more abut their skin's complexion, select the most appropriate product to achieve naturally bright facial skin and enjoy Pond's On Tour games and activities."
"Pond's On Tour is will visit women in their hometowns and give them free skin examinations in more than 460 communities, 260 educational institutes and 30 industrial plants in 73 provinces. Through our onsite visits, we hope to get closer to women in all parts of the country," added Mrs. Wannipa.
Pond's is the leader of the facial care products segment, thanks to its appreciation of Thai women's skin needs and its development of facial care products tailored to these needs. Pond's Whitening Beauty Detox is the top player in the 2.6-billion-baht whitening facial care market, with an 18.5% market share during the first half of 2006.
Whitening products are the top category in the facial products market, with a total market value of 5.4 billion baht and a 11% growth rate in 2005.
"We are confident that the Pond's On Tour program will receive great feedback from consumers, with estimated 200,000 participants and will reinforce our skin expertise and continue to drive Pond's White Beauty Detox leadership of the
whitening market," said Ms. Wannipa.
In addition, Pond's also invited "Pui" Pimolwan Suppayang, "Ploy" Sherman Boonyasak and Yardtip Ratchpan, to join the launch event, as examples of women with different facial skin problems. The guests shared tips for keeping their faces smooth and white and demonstrated how the face-scanning machine of the Pond's On Tour program works.
Pond's White Beauty Detox is now available in two formulas specifically tailored to different skin types, including Spotless White (Gold) to eliminate blemishes, providing a lighter and more radiant skin tone; and Smooth Pinkish White (Pink) to smoothen rough and uneven-toned skin, for a rosy glow. Pond's White Beauty Detox is offered in a range of sizes, from 10g to 80g, priced from 10 baht and is available at stores and supermarkets nationwide.
