The Diplomat Bar at The Conrad Bangkok welcomes new swing sensation jazz singer, Kathryn Farmer from New York City, who comes to showcase her powerful jazz vocalist and virtuoso pianist, from 25 January to 25 April 2011. Kathryn began playing piano when she was 6 years old, by ear in her father’s bar, improvising to the hits of Ray Charles, James Brown and Lou Donaldson. She graduated from The New England Conservatory where she studied piano and arranging with Jaki Byard & also studied voice. She started touring with blue jazz guitarist Melvin Sparks playing the Hammond B3 organ. After that for three decades, she kept touring worldwide with a lot of world great jazz singers, musicians and bands in legend such as Bill Hardman, Junior Cook, Billy Hart, Walter Bishop Jr.’s band, Joe Chambers, Clark Terry and more. She is an enthusiastic, powerful swinging jazz vocalist and skilled organist, pianist and composer. She truly encompasses more talents than three women.
