Asia Credit Confirms Bangkok Bank and Societe Generale's Support

Bangkok--September 9--ACL Asia Credit Plc. confirms that both Bangkok Bank and Societe Generale Bank are ready to provide full support to the Company. Moreover, a Strategic Master Plan for securities business as submitted by SOCIETE GENERAL will be concluded soon and will be guidelines in leading the Company towards Internationalization. Mr. Banthorn Lewprasert, President of Asia Credit, however reffered to misleading information published in certain Thai newspapers that SOCIETE GENERALE is increasing its shareholding to 75%. He confirmed the shareholding structure in Asia Credit remained at 31% for Bangkok Bank and 28% for SOCIETE GENERALE group. Both major shareholders always provide full support to Asia Credit. Specifically Bangkok Bank gives strong financial support both in terms of equity and local credit line, therefore assuming Asia Credit's strength and confidence among depositors. Meanwhile, SOCIETE GENERALE provides support in terms of foreign fund, and in upgrading of financial and information technology, thus strengthening the Company in its development towards internationalization. Futhermore, both groups confirm their commitment as the Company's major shareholders. Mr. Banthorn Lewprasert added that last May the Company and SOCIETE GENERALE agreed upon a Memorandum of Understanding to re-structure and strenghthen Asia Credit's securities business, which included the separation of securities business from finance business, and the set up of a new securities company. In this regard, a Strategic Master Plan for the securities business has been completed by SOCIETE GENERALE and is now being submitted to Asia Credit for final conclusion. END.
