In 1997, the company achieved a 22.5% marketshare in the desktop market and a 36.7% marketshare of the server market. Moreover, Compaq is also leader in NT servers with a 39.8% marketshare. For the combined market, the 1997 market value of Compaq Computer (Thailand) and Digital Equipment Corporation (Thailand) represented a 22.79%," explained M.L. Chaivat. The IDC report also indicated that the company's distribution channel will benefit from this merger. A full line of products and services will be available to all channel partners.
