                                                                                                                                      The 322 students were from the Marketing Institute of Singapore which entered into Australia's first-ever off-shore university partnership arrangement with Curtin University of Technology in 1983.
                                                                                                                                      The students were in the first and second semesters of their Bachelor of Commerce studies, and the photograph marked the completion of a two-week intensive study program (January 4 - 15) at Curtin.
                                                                                                                                      Professor John Milton-Smith, Deputy Vice-Chancellor - Curtin International, said the collaborative programs with the Marketing Institute of Singapore have continued to grow and are regarded as a prestigious and professional marketing qualification in the Asian region.
                                                                                                                                      "We have a long-standing relationship with Singapore, its students and academic institutions, and are proud of our many Singaporean graduates who have gone on to make their mark in the world," Professor Milton-Smith said.
                                                                                                                                      "Singapore students continue to recognise the international reputation which Curtin qualifications have earned over the past decade. The Curtin degree courses at the Marketing Institute of Singapore have been particularly sought after."
                                                                                                                                      Curtin Business School (CBS) offers the Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing), (Finance and Marketing), (Management and Marketing), (Marketing and Public Relations), (Banking and Marketing) (Marketing & Accounting) as well as the Master of International Marketing and the Master of Strategic Marketing in conjunction with the Marketing Institute of Singapore. There are about 600 students undertaking the Bachelor of Commerce programs.
                                                                                                                                      About 20 Singapore students are undertaking the Master of Business (International Marketing) also run in conjunction with the Marketing Institute of Singapore. 
                                                                                                                                      Curtin's Singapore students (2,100) make up the biggest percentage (34.5 per cent) of offshore students enrolled at Curtin, followed by Malaysia (23 per cent) and Hong Kong (about 21 per cent).
                                                                                                                                      About 1,000 Singapore students study with Curtin in Singapore in collaboration with the University's 15 offshore partners. These include the Marketing Institute of Singapore, Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI), Informatics Computer School, Informatics Centre for Advanced Seminars, Business and Professional Improvement (BPI) International Group, Singapore Institute of Materials Management (SIMM), International Procurement Association of Singapore, and the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA).
                                                                                                                                      Curtin has maintained a growth rate of between eight and nine per cent over the past decade, in its provision of education programs to students in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Indonesia.
                                                                                                                                      The University currently provides 365 undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses, on and offshore, to more than 25,000 students, including over 6,000 from 75 different countries outside Australia
                                                                                                                                      Curtin University of Technology has one of Australia's largest cohorts of international students (representing 21% of the total student body) and more than half Western Australia's total. It has remained one of the top four Australian destinations for international students over the last 10 years and is a leader in international and cross-cultural education.
                                                                                                                                      A 1998 survey by Asiaweek magazine ranked Curtin as the best science and technology university in Australia and the third best in the region in terms of academic reputation.
