EAI Journal's "Best E-Business Solution" Awarded to GE

Global Exchange Services and Fedex Corp.

FedEx E-Commerce Network, With Integration Technology From GXS, Processes More Than 3 Million Business-To-Business Transactions Per Day

HONG KONG, May 25 /PRNewswire Asia-AsiaNet/ -- GE Global eXchange Services and FedEx Corporation (NYSE: FDX) have won the 2001 EAI Journal "Best e-Business Solution" Award.

The prestigious award is based on their joint effort in building FedExNet, a FedEx-owned and operated e-commerce network that processes over 3 million transactions per day and provides extensive professional services to more than 5,000 customers. GE Global eXchange Services (GXS) provides integration technology for FedExNet, which, since its implementation in 1996, has saved FedEx $50 million.

As FedEx's communications backbone, FedExNet streamlines supply-chain transactions between FedEx and its suppliers and customers, reducing cost and enhancing customer loyalty. FedExNet uses the message routing and data-transformation capabilities of GXS's Enterprise System(TM) to provide supply-chain integration for procurement of goods and services, as well as supporting FedEx customers. For example:

* FedExNet supports a real-time notification service that supports e-mail, fax, paging and printing. Currently,

FedExNet sends more than 50,000 e-mails per day in support of Internet shipping, alerting the recipient to arriving shipments with their associated airbill number.

* FedExNet enables customers to connect to FedEx using the Internet, leased lines or value-added networks for the electronic exchange of business documents covering shipping, tracking, invoicing and remittance.

"The recognition from EAI Journal is a testament to the service FedExNet is able to provide to our customers and suppliers, who have been enjoying the benefits of the integration for several years," commented Jim Myers, managing director of integration development services, FedEx Corporate Services, Inc. "GXS's Enterprise System forms the core component underpinning the system and was selected because it is proven technology and it has a robust messaging and translation engine."

"When a company's business is moving packages around the world, systems integration is vital to providing customers real-time information," said Steve Scala, GXS vice president of integration solutions. "We are proud that our joint effort with FedEx, using Enterprise System, was named 'Best e-Business Solution."
